School Programs

Kids are naturally curious about nature. Every child needs a place where he or she can explore muddy water, catch frogs and chase butterflies. At Catoctin Creek Nature Center, we believe in nurturing this natural sense of wonder.

When you register your students for one of our nature programs, they will have the opportunity to explore nature and the environment. Our staff naturalists will introduce them to the natural world and guide them through nature-based activities and excursions around the park (weather permitting).

The programs described in the following pages are coordinated to match the Maryland State Department of Education curriculum standards. To help educators choose the program that best fits their students’ needs, the Maryland State Science Standards (MSSS) and the Maryland State Environmental Literacy Standards (MSELS) that are covered are listed within each program.

  • Preschool Programs (3-5 yrs)
  • Elementary Programs (Kindergarten through 5th Grade)
  • Secondary School Programs (6th-12th Grades)
