Home School Programs

Overview

Home school programs are geared to coordinate with many of the lesson plans and requirements set forth in the school curriculum. Lively discussions and interactive activities contribute to a healthy environment for learning.

Home School Families are also encouraged to visit us online for a listing of our seasonal Home School Days. 

Reservation Information

To reserve your program, please call 301-600-1646

  • All attendees are required to register and pay, including siblings
  • Minimum group size is 6 participants and the maximum is 20
  • At least one paying adult is required to stay with the reservation group
  • Programs are 2 hours in length
  • Reservations must be made at least 30 days in advance
  • Program Fees: $8.00 / per participant

These programs are for ages 5-12 years old.

Theme
Historic Buildings

 
Explore the various buildings of Rose Hill (inside and out) and the history of architecture. Learn about the importance of various buildings in our communities and identify buildings and styles.

Milk and Butter

(S.T.E.A.M. Program)      
From the moment a cow takes a bit of grass there is science, technology, engineering, art and math in every glass of milk and every pat of butter. Discover and practice the process from milk to butter using historic tools.

Metal Working

(S.T.E.A.M. Program)
Learn how metal-working has evolved over time with technology. Learn about various metals we use in our everyday lives and practice tin-punching.

Yarn & Fabric Arts

Learn about traditional fabric arts including weaving and quilting. Dye your own small fabric project and learn basic knots or stitches to create beautiful fabric art. 

Toymaker

Toys are not only fun to play with, they are fun to make. Learn about toys in the past and discover how to craft your own toys and games. You'll get to use your imagination to make your own toy and game to play with your friends and family. 

Holiday

(available mid-November-mid-December)
Explore the rich history of our holiday traditions from carols to Christmas trees. We will explore the manor and discover how our various holiday traditions originated, make your own ornament to take home.

Archeology

Archeology is the practice of recovering items from the ground and old buildings and sites that can help to tell the story of the lives of the people who lived on the site in the past. Explore archeological artifacts from Rose Hill and discover the story these items tell us.
