Application Guidelines: A Step-by-Step Overview

  1. Submit a Complete Project Application 
    Applications must include all required documents as outlined below. Upon submission, applicants will receive a Letter of Acknowledgment, indicating the project start date.
  2. Ensure Inclusion on the County’s Annual Program
    Projects must be listed on the County’s Annual Program for the fiscal year in question to establish eligibility for funding.
  3. Undergo Review by Local Grants Administrator and State Clearinghouse  
    After processing the application, it is sent to the State Clearinghouse, DNR Clearinghouse, and MDP for review, followed by a legislative notification to the appropriate Senate/House offices.
  4. Approval by the Board of Public Works (BPW)
    Projects are scheduled for a BPW meeting. Once approved, the applicant will receive a BPW approval letter, marking the official commencement of the project.
  5. Submit for Reimbursements
    Applicants may submit for partial reimbursements throughout the project's construction or opt for a comprehensive reimbursement upon project completion. All projects must be completed within 5 years of BPW approval.
