The sled run and skating pond are checked daily by Parks and Recreation staff. To see if the sled run and/or skating pond are open, please call 301-600-6291.There are also open / closed signs posted at the park entrance.
The sled run is approximately 20 feet wide and 150 feet long.
The sled run is open as long as there are no areas devoid of snow (bare areas). Once turf is showing through or there are rough, icy spots or other safety hazards present, the sled run is closed.
Ice Skating Pond The ice skating pond is approximately ¼ acre and 10 to 12 inches in depth throughout.
The ice skating pond is open as long as the thickness of the ice is at least 4 inches and there are no rough, icy areas and no open water, standing water or other safety hazards.
Park Hours On days where the sled run and/or skating pond are open, the park will remain open until 10 p.m.. The sled run and skating pond will be closed if unsafe conditions exist.
